We all agree it is not fair for a first or second grader to have assignments mentioned above. Nevertheless, the same can still be given to the same children, if they are able to understand the Solar System or Theories about Aliens. They should be given the possibility of exploring the answers to the queries in their own time and method. In the same way, the fantasy stories create a world of virtual reality within the imagination of the children where they tend to think that all that they see as a part of the fantasy world is a real existence.
The need for a curriculum that would be appended with appropriate learning aids is the need of the hour. There are numerous curriculum available today with their own supporting materials to enhance the comprehension level of the student. The problem is whether the materials that are given as a part of a particular concept or experiment appropriately placed in the learning stream. The wrong depiction of materials for a concept will lead to a total misinterpretation of the fact or concept or theorem causing confusion in the minds of children when they confront the appropriate materials later.
The Montessori Method eliminates the rise of these confusions, with proper placement and application of the materials that is appropriate to the level of the student. The Montessori environment takes into account all the attributes of the child relegating that of the academic assessment to the least priority list. Montessori Method focusses on the Motor development initially and then move on to the other development in a linear phased manner giving ample time for the child to understand and learn.
The Curriculum appropriate materials also helps the child in mastering the subjects with ease and the absence of discontinuity acts as a catalyst for the rapid progress of the child. Since the materials have their own uniqueness to understand a concept or grasping a theory, the pace at which the learning is done is very much appreciable. The knowledge that is gained with these materials acting as guides is not of volatile nature but that can be remembered for much longer time.
